Last week was a bit of a disappointment in the DFS column as Justin Herbert didn't live up to expectations against a softer Dallas Cowboys secondary. And, perhaps the dud of the week was Cole Kmet managing just 0.5 FP...ouch! But, we just need to look forward to Week 3 and see if a bounce back spot is in the cards.
Jared Goff, QB - Detroit Lions (DK: $5,200 / FD: $7,100)
It's no secret the Lions are going to be a bottom feeder this year, however, they've showed some grit through the first two weeks and hung in both ball games. A lot of this can be attributed to the play of Goff -- averaging 292 YPG with 5 TD and 2 INT -- who has been a pleasant surprise since coming over in the trade that sent Matthew Stafford to the L.A. Rams. This is a simple recipe where the Lions will probably have to throw a lot to keep up with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense, especially with D'Andre Swift's status up in the air for this game. I expect the Ravens to have a bit of hangover here after an emotional win over the Kansas City Chiefs last week, plus their defense continues to be ravaged by injuries.
Extra Value Play: Daniel Jones, QB - N.Y. Giants (DK: $5,800 / FD: $7,400)
Saquon Barkley, RB - N.Y. Giants (DK: $6,500 / FD: $6,000)
It seems that the Giants have had Barkley on a pitch count to start the year, averaging just 13 touches through two games. Maybe you don't want to invest in Barkley just yet, but this is a must-win game for the Giants and the Falcons have yielded 127.5 RYDS/G (23rd in NFL) so far this year. At some point, Jason Garrett has to dial up more running plays for Barkley and see if he is fully recovered from knee surgery. If ever there was a spot for Barkley to make an impact, it's today as DFS owners are getting some pretty good value on Fanduel here.
Extra Value Play: Alexander Mattison, RB.- Minnesota Vikings (DK: $6,000 / FD: $5,200)
Tyler Boyd, WR - Cincinnati Bengals (DK: $4,700 / FD: $5,600)
I think with Tee Higgins unlikely to play in this game, the popular play will be Ja'Marr Chase. But, if we take a closer look at the numbers, Chase has just seven catches this year two of them he found pay dirt. Joe Haden is expected to be back in the lineup for the Pittsburgh Steelers so that could make finding the end zone even tougher for Chase. I'll lean towards Boyd, who could be the more consistent option for Joe Burrow today. Boyd is averaging 10.5 YPR this year and let's not forget he's eclipsed 100 targets the last three years.
Extra Value Play: Rondale Moore, WR - Arizona Cardinals (DK: 5,000 / FD: $5,600)
Marvin Jones Jr., WR - Jacksonville Jaguars (DK: $4,900 / FD: $6,300)
Jones Jr. has certainly been the fantasy darling for the Jags through two weeks of the season, hauling in 11 catches and finding the endzone twice. Trevor Lawrence has targeted Jones Jr. 20 times so far and I don't see a reason for why the volume takes a dip this week. As much as Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals should light up the Jags today, expect Lawrence to be able to move the ball fairly easily against a depleted Cards secondary. I like Jones Jr. a lot today, especially to find the end zone.
Extra Value Play: Darius Slayton, WR - N.Y. Giants (DK: $4,600 / FD: $5,400)
