Week 2 DFS Value Plays

Week 1 had a few head-scratching fantasy performances, the most shocking were Brandon Aiyuk and Mike Gesicki throwing up a pair of gooseggs. On the flip side, there were also a pair of surprise fantasy outcomes from Jameis Winston (QB4) and Jamaal Williams (RB2) -- needless to say, I don't think anybody saw that coming. As we look ahead to Week 2, there are plenty of matchups that should see high-scoring results. Let's dive into some value DFS plays to put you over the top in your contests.
Justin Herbert, QB - Los Angeles Chargers (DK: $6,700 / FD: $7,600)
I think we're getting a lot of value here with Herbert at home to the Dallas Cowboys (although this will likely look and feel the part of a home game for the visiting team). The Cowboys just can't seem to catch a break after going toe-to-toe with the defending Super Bowl champions on opening night and will be without DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory in this game. This should ease the burden for the Chargers' offensive line (even though the Cowboys pass rush is mediocre at best) and give Herbert plenty of added time in the pocket. With just 14.38 FP (QB26) last week, this is a perfect bounce back spot for Herbert as the Cowboys are a much more vanilla defense compared to the Washington Football Team. Owners will likely pay up for Kyler Murray or Tom Brady today, but you should feel confident rolling out Herbert with the offensive weapons around him.
Extra Value Play: Joe Burrow, QB - Cincinnati Bengals (DK: $5,800 / FD: $7,100)
Najee Harris, RB - Pittsburgh Steelers (DK: $6,300 / FD: $6,100)

Harris had a very underwhelming regular season debut last week against a Buffalo Bills defense that struggled against the run last season. Ben Roethlisberger spoke post game after the win and mentioned the Steelers defense would have to carry them this season (alarming comment from your veteran QB) and that leads me to believe the run game will be leaned on heavily too. This is a perfect spot for Mike Tomlin to increase the carries of his rookie RB against a Las Vegas Raiders squad that a relative unknown in Ty'Son Williams rush for 65 yards on just 9 carries and find the endzone on Monday night. Harris should see plenty of work in this game to take the pressure off Big Ben under center and we're getting some solid pricing on both platforms.
Extra Value Play: Elijah Mitchell, RB - San Francisco 49ers (DK: $5,000 / FD: $5,800)
Kareem Hunt, RB - Cleveland Browns (DK: $5,800 / FD: $5,700)

The popular play this week will be Nick Chubb against the Houston Texans. I'm not drinking the kool-aid of the Texans after they walked over the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Browns should very much control this game from start to finish. The line has now moved to -13 for the home team and that leads me to believe the offensive gameplan will be to lean on the two-headed rushing monster of both Chubb and Hunt. If this game gets out of hand, then Hunt becomes even more of a value play in garbage time. Last week, Hunt had nine touches and turned that into 61 total yards and a TD. His volume in this game should be enough to make him a viable starting option and allow you to spend up on other skilled position players.
Extra Value Play: Nyheim Hines, RB - Indianapolis Colts (DK: $4,700 / FD: $5,100)
DK Metcalf, WR - Seattle Seahawks (DK: $7,600 / FD: $7,000)
It would appear that DraftKings and Fanduel are on very different pages when it comes to Metcalf's price this week. On one hand, DK has him as the third most expensive wideout, but we're getting some pretty good value with him on FD as the 12th most expensive receiver. The Tennessee Titans looks completely out of sorts at home to the Arizona Cardinals last week. We knew heading into the year that the defense was their weak spot, but this could be Dallas Cowboys level bad from the onset. If that's the case, I expect Russell Wilson to have his way with the secondary and Metcalf is already hard enough to cover as it is. The total on this game is at 54 points, so expect to see some fireworks.
Extra Value Play: Antonio Brown, WR - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (DK: $6,000 / FD: $6,400)
