It's championship weekend for some of you in your fantasy football leagues, but for others, the luck has run out and you're looking for something else to keep you occupied (besides online betting). Enter, DFS, and all its wonder. Weather conditions might play a key role in some fantasy outputs this week -- namely the Seahawks/Rams and Packers/Titans games. Let's dive into some value plays on the board to help you put together a competitive lineup.
Melvin Gordon III, RB - Denver Broncos (DK: $5,600 / FD: $6,400)
You may not see this as the most appetizing matchup for Gordon because the Chargers are middle of the pack for giving up fantasy points to RB's at 17.9 (17th in NFL). However, over their last four games they've allowed an average of 145 yards on the ground to their opponents. Couple that with Gordon hitting double digit fantasy points in three straight games, and you have yourself a recipe for success if the Broncos lean on the ground game.
J.D. McKissic, RB - Washington Football Team (DK: $6,400 / FD: $5,800)
I'm not going to lie, this could be one of the sloppiest games on Sunday. And, the Football Team has already ruled out star receiver Terry McLaurin, plus, it appears Alex Smith is still a game-time decision so we don't know if it will be another start for Dwayne Haskins. It looks like Antonio Gibson will give it a go after sitting out the last two weeks with a toe injury, but I'm not convinced he's 100%. If there is one thing the Panthers are susceptible to, it's the run, giving up 19.5 FP/G to the position (8th-most in NFL). I like McKissic here because I think regardless of who is under center today, they will have trouble moving the ball vertically and I anticipate a lot of dink and dunk in this one.
Kareem Hunt, RB - Cleveland Browns (DK: $5,900 / FD: $7,200)
I've been touting Hunt all season long and think he is a stand alone RB1 if he can get out from behind Nick Chubb's shadow. Covid-19 swept through the Browns locker room like a wrecking ball earlier this week, as linebacker B.J. Goodson tested positive, setting off a chain of events that will keep four wideouts out of this game -- Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, Donovan Peoples-Jones and KhaDarel Hodge. Hello opportunity! Hunt is second on the team in targets (45) and figures to play an even larger role in the passing game on Sunday.
Amari Cooper, WR - Dallas Cowboys (DK: $5,700 / FD: $6,600)
Cooper was extremely quiet last week in a win over the San Francisco 49ers, hauling in just two catches for 10 yards. But, prior to that he saw a five-game stretch with at least five targets, finishing with double digit fantasy points in each of those games. Now, he gets an Eagles team that has allowed a 100-yard receiver in three of their last four matchups, giving up 24.6 FP/G to the position (13th in NFL). He won't have Ben DiNucci throwing to him like their previous Week 8 matchup, so expect Cooper to get some looks today from Andy Dalton.
Austin Hooper, TE - Cleveland Browns (DK: $3,500 / FD: $5,100)
I touched on it earlier with Hunt, but the lack of available wideouts at Baker Mayfield's disposal in this game means he will need to find some familiar faces. Hooper leads the Browns in targets this year (50) and the Jets are giving up the most fantasy points in the league to TE's at 12.1/G. This is a prime matchup for Hooper and the price on both platforms is too good to pass up.
